Hey! Thanks for stopping by the page: the official website of Two-Track Mind. We are a Hip-Hop/Electronic music duo (Eric Wellington and David Linn) based around the Portland, Oregon area. Take a look around, a listen, and let us know what you think of our creations.
We have been making music since 2006 and have evolved a lot as musicians from then to now. Originally we would purchase instrumental tracks from various producers, then write and record our music over a pre-determined beat. This worked for us for a while, but we had very little influence on the structure and sound of the instrumentals, besides the ability to pick the ones that sounded “good” to us. The worst part of this was that it took a step out of the creative process of getting our thoughts put into music. We basically had to conform to the structure of whatever instrumental we would choose. Now, when we make our songs, we create everything ourselves. This allows us to be more open in the song-making process and, in turn, helps us to produce better music.
Our first album was self-titled, released in 2011 and was made possible with the generous donations from our fans that supported us through Kickstarter. Thanks to that support the album was created, mixed, mastered and is now up for digital download and physical purchase as well.
After the first album was done, we worked even harder to develop our sound and lyrics. We wrote our first single "Take It Down" which was a huge step forward for us. Not only did we develop our sound, we drove to get the best sound possible by recording this single along with the entire next album in a recording studio. We took a road-trip to California and throughout it all, we recorded a music video for the single which in our opinion was one of the best things we've recorded. You can watch this video along with other music videos that we produced and edited ourselves (just like our music). "Paint the Town" was another single released off of the sophomore album "Are We There Yet?" released in 2013.
As our lives get busy with other things, we still make time for music. April 2014, we released "Get Wild." A new sound for Two-Track Mind, and will continue exploring many different sounds on the next album. Eric now focuses on making the beats from scratch, with help from David, where now most vocals are focused around David. This is the blueprint for a upcoming album that may be released in 2015.
We are forever learning and growing, gathering new experiences and lessons. With that said, we are heading full speed ahead in creating, writing, and composing new music. We are looking forward to what we have ahead of us. Stay tuned… there is EXCITING stuff to come in the near future!
